AMY WALLEN (HOST) is the author of the Los Angeles Times bestselling novel MoonPies and Movie Stars, and is a writer-in-residence at the New York State Summer Writers Institute. She lectures and teaches creative writing in programs across the country, including the University of California, San Diego Extension, and at private workshops. In addition to writing the occasional book review for the LA Times, Amy is the host of DimeStories Live, the popular monthly showcase reading series in conjunction with the radio show. JAMES R. SPRING (CONTRIBUTING EDITOR) is a writer based in San Diego. A former foreign correspondent for Cox Newspapers, he now contributes to National Public Radio programs, including This American Life, and he's been featured in radio expeditions for Atlantic Public Media. His stories have ranged from 'embedding' with the Minutemen at the border, to covering the Baja 1000 off-road race - to motorcycling solo through Mexico's Sierra Madre where he recorded his experiences with Tarahumara drug traffickers.
